When I was growing up, mother only used our “good dishes” during holidays or special occasions.     And that tradition of using the good dishes is passed down from generation to generation—thinking that the ONLY time you should use the china and silverware is during special times of the year.     We have all had friends who have been diagnosed with cancer.  A debilitating disease.  Mental illness. Those friends and family who die way too young.      It got me thinking—why not use the good dishes whenever you feel like it?  It’s a metaphor for living your life one day at a time.   …
Let’s face it.  Women are stereotyped.  We are judged by our clothing.  Our hair and makeup.  By the way we handle ourselves professionally.  In sales, there are certain things that women should be conscious of if they want to be perceived as “professional”.  When you talk, try to stay away from using a “high-pitched” voice When traveling for business, don’t carry too much luggage Don’t get into cat fights with other women (in meetings) Don’t gossip Don’t dress provocatively Don’t play the “ditzy woman” game Don’t try to act like a man Don’t be a male basher To quote Forrest…
Social media is a double-edged sword. You can get yourself a boatload of leads. Or you can get yourself and your company in a whole lot of trouble. Tammy Butler, MortgageCurrentcy.com, shared some of the “don’ts,” not only to stay compliant, but to ensure that you are creating a stellar reputation—online. Stay away from “rant” groups No politics No mention of religion (Fair lending…
I was a Junior Achievement Advisor for many years. There were three things that I advocated that every student should know…                 How to balance a checking account                 How to apply for a job                 How to play chess or checkers or cards (think about it). However, there is one more important—no, critical—thing that both high school and college students should know about—how to obtain credit and maintain a good credit score. These kids are our next generation of home buyers!  I was talking with a mortgage girlfriend the other day who has been teaching Credit Education classes to…
Are you making yourself crazy with all the compliance rules about working/paying to help real estate agents market themselves? At the recent Mortgage Girlfriends Mastermind Retreat, Tammy Butler talked about the different investigations and fines being levied by the CFBP when it comes to paying real estate agents’ marketing. Her suggestion? Start marketing to consumers! You get the leads.  You refer the leads. You save money and comply with the rules.  I wanted to share with diva members, a link to the articles we have written on how to get business directly from consumers so YOU can refer them to…
